Obituary for Cleora M. Shellaway (Blankenbiller)
Cleora M. Shellaway, widow of Paul D. Shellaway, who passed away in 1986, went to eternal rest on November 12, 2022 at the age of 96.
She was born in Cumru Twp., Berks County, a daughter of the late Edgar L. and Lillian (Taglieber) Blankenbiller. She was a 1944 graduate of East Greenville High School. She and her late husband Paul were the owners of Shellaway Furniture Store in Gilbertsville.
Cleora was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Sassamansville, PA. She was also a member of Bally Senior Center, Boyertown Senior Center, Montco-Berks Senior Center and the Sweat Tea Ladies Lunch Club. For 16 years, she also volunteered for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile.
She is survived by her sons: Rev. Dr. Dwight and wife Nancy, of North Carolina; Bruce, of California; grandsons: Justin and wife Ruza, of Tennessee; Jared and wife Allison, of Maryland; great-grandchildren: Rose, Christopher, Emma and Jonah; sister: Lilian Sweinhart, of Barto; niece and caretaker, Shirley Beattie, of Barto; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Blankenbiller, of Barto; Goddaughter, Karen Dunning, of Tennessee and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by a brother, Eddie Blankenbiller and niece, Donna Muthersbaugh.
Viewings will be held on Thursday at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA from 7-8:30 PM and on Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1809 Hoffmansville Rd, Sassamansville, PA 19472 from 10-11 AM. A Service will follow at 11:00 AM officiated by Rev. Matthew Finney. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
