Obituary for Anthony Wayne Rota

Anthony Wayne Rota, 22, of Boyertown, PA, died July 9, 2021, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born July 2, 1999, in Phoenixville, PA.

Anthony is survived by his parents Anthony M. “Tony” and Joy (Gibson) Rota and his sister Elise of Boyertown, his best friend/”brother” Quinn, his fishing buddy Thomas, and his girlfriend Hannah Paulina of Indiana, PA. He also leaves his paternal grandparents Anthony V. and Joan Rota, of Pottstown, PA; his maternal grandparents Wayne and Ann Gibson of Carlisle (previously Williamsport), PA; his aunts and uncles Denise and Staffan Svenson of Richmond, CA, Karen and Doug Ogden of Doylestown, PA and Barry Eves of Pottstown, PA. He will be missed by his cousins Liv and Oskar Svenson, Harlan and Evan Ogden, and Abbi and Jared Eves along with countless friends. Anthony was preceded in death by his aunt Kristen (Rota) Eves.

Anthony was a graduate of Boyertown Area High School and attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He was employed as a merchandiser for Origlio Beverage, Philadelphia, PA.

Anthony was a talented baseball player who excelled as a catcher with the Boyertown High Bears, IUP Crimson Hawks and numerous recreational teams. His talent as a baseball player was evident early on when he hit a walk-off homerun to win the Cal Ripkin tournament at age 12, earning the tournament MVP. Continuing his dedication and passion for baseball into his teens and twenties, Anthony was chosen to represent Pennsylvania in the Big 26 Border Klash baseball tournament where he was recognized as the MVP of the series. Additionally, he was a member of the 2016 Pennsylvania State District 1 High School Championship team. He was known throughout the community for his zest for life, generosity, empathy and sense of humor. Always up for a good time, Anthony made everyone around him feel accepted, loved and filled with laughter. He was most in his element when he was outdoors, and he loved to hunt and fish. Many people will remember ‘Ant’ fly fishing along the Ironstone and Manatawny Creeks.

To honor Anthony’s life, relatives and friends are invited to visitations at New Hanover United Methodist Church, 2211 Swamp Pike, Gilbertsville, PA on Friday, July 16 from 6-9 PM and Saturday, July 17 from 9-11 AM with a Celebration of Life Ceremony to follow at 11:00 AM. Anthony, in his welcoming and unpretentious demeanor, would want guests to be comfortable and wear their casual attire.
