Obituary for Charles Calvin Kershner

Charles Calvin Kershner, 82, of East Greenville, died Friday, September 24, 2010 at Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coopersburg. He was the husband of Helen M. (Geiger) Kershner celebrating 61 years of marriage on January 1st.

Born in Upper Hanover Township, he was a son of the late Charles E. and Alma (Christman) Kershner.

He was a Shipping Clerk at Sup-Erb Brush, East Greenville for 32 years.

He was a veteran of the US Navy serving as a Seaman 1st Class during World War II.

He was longtime member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church where he was a member of the church council and sang in the choir for many years. He was a member of Perkiomen Lodge #595 F&AM, Perkiomen Square Club, Lehigh Consistory – Valley of Allentown, where he sang in their choir, and the Rajah Shrine.

Surviving along with his wife are 2 children, Michael Charles Kershner and his wife, Pamela of Marshville, NC and Michele Ann Truax and her husband, Andrew of Richburg, SC.; 4 grandchildren, Bryan Kershner and Joshua, Ashley and Shania Truax; 2 nieces, Diane Mohr and her husband, Kenneth of East Greenville and Janet Cimino of New Castle, DE and 2 nephews, Raymond Cimino of Pottstown and David Cimino of Virginia Beach, VA. Along with his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Harold Kershner and 2 sisters, Grace Grill and Ruth “Dolly” Cimino.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 81 N. Main Street, Pennsburg with the Rev. Charles E. Romanowski officiating. Family and friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville and also 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at church.
