Obituary for Charles Donald Lechner

Charles Donald Lechner, 93, of Frederick, PA, passed away at Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest on Friday, April 14, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Frances L. (Peterman) Lechner, with whom he shared 67 joyous years of marriage.

He was born in Red Hill, PA. Donald was the son of the late Dr. Ernest G. Lechner and Eva (Genszler) Lechner. He graduated from Pennsburg High School in 1948 and went on to earn a bachelor of science from Pennsylvania State University. He then completed his masters degree from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.

Donald was an Army veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army Reserves retiring as a Colonel after 38 years of service.

He was the founder and owner of Lechner & Stauffer Inc. for 37 years. He was active in and leader of numerous professional, civic, church and community organizations.

Donald was an avid Penn State Football fan and outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and spending time in the outdoors. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife Franny, and their family and friends at his home on Lake Wallenpaupack in Pennsylvania.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Karen and Mahlon Brosius of CA, their two children Corey, Amanda and Noe Lutz. Donna and Jeff Gruskay, of CT, their children Jordan and Kate Gruskay and great grandchild Greta and Lindsay Gruskay and Alex Bozzo. Linda and John Kauffman, of MT, their children, Hope Kauffman, Hunter Kauffman and Harrison and Rebecca Kauffman. Carol and Dan Seislove, of PA, and their 2 sons Tyler and Tanner Seislove. He is also survived by his sister: Jane Lechner Tyson and her daughters Susan Andrews, Lucy and Rob Wert.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 11:30 am at the Chapel at Frederick Living, 2849 Big Rd., Zieglerville, PA 19492.
