Obituary for Clarence L. Gehris Jr.

Clarence L. Gehris Jr., 78, of Hereford and formerly Barto, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at home. He was the husband of Mary L. (Hawbaker) Gehris.

He was born in Bechtelsville, the son of Clarence L. Sr. and Glenna (Ritter) Gehris. Clarence drove truck for 38 years with Roadway Express and also worked part-time at Hickory Valley Golf Course before retiring.
He was a member of St. Joseph Hill Lutheran Church, Boyertown, PA. He was also a life member of Bechtelsville and Bally Fire Companies. He also volunteered as an ambulance drive for Bally Community Ambulance Assoc. Clarence loved going to street rod shows locally, but most of all loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren compete in sports.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, he is survived by his children: Kevin L. Gehris, of Oley; Tracy L. Cox, of Adamstown; Crystal A. Schwenk, of Lyon Station; Michael D. Gehris and wife Tammy, of Barto and Rachel K. Stapleton and husband Justin, of Gilbertsville; Sister, Gloria Schwager and husband William, of Bechtelsville; grandchildren: Kevin Gehris Jr., Dillin Gehris, Hally and Zachary Cox; Samantha, Barry, Cole and Piper Schwenk; Gage and Ryder Gehris, Ashlee Hower; Kaleb Stapleton and great-grandchildren: Fryah, Grayson and Nolan Gehris and Jase Hower.

Viewings for Clarence will be at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041 held on Monday evening, September 20, 2021 from 6-8 PM and Tuesday from 10-11 AM. A Service led by Rev. Kim Truenbach will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Hill Church Union Cemetery.
