Obituary for David F. Bittenbender
David F. Bittenbender, 78, of Mertztown, PA , passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Lehigh Valley Hospice. He was the husband of Mabel E. (DeLong) Bittenbender, to whom he was married for 54 years.
He was born in Upper Hanover Twp. to the late Paul H. and Virginia M. (Brensinger) Bittenbender. Mr. Bittenbender was an Army veteran and worked for many years in the maintenance department at Boise Cascade, East Greenville, PA.
He was a member of Huff’s Union Church, Alburtis, PA. He also loved tinkering with projects in his garage, machining and building things. He loved family gatherings, Lionel Trains and his beagle Chevy.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Daniel P. Bittenbender of Mertztown and sister, Tana Saeger, of Palm. He was also preceded in death by a son, David F. Bittenbender Jr. and sister, Sally Hein.
Services will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Huff’s Union Church, 540 Conrad Rd., Alburtis, PA 18011 with Rev. Jane Moffet Kropa officiating. Friends may call from 10-11 AM at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA.
