Obituary for E. Grace Beard (Custer)
E. Grace Beard, 94, wife of the late Bernard B. Beard, formerly of Red Hill and Palm, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Frederick Living Community.
She was born in Red Hill to the late Russell and Mabel (Hunsburger) Custer. Grace was a 1944 graduate of East Greenville High School and also attended Allentown Business School. She was employed as a secretary at East Greenville High School, seamstress at Rosenthal’s in Red Hill and as a seamstress and Q.C. Inspector at Stauffer Glove & Safety in Red Hill.
Grace was a lifelong member of Palm Schwenkfelder Church. She also loved gardening and golf.
She is survived by her sons: Brian, husband of Jo, of Silversprings, MD; Blair, husband of Joanne, of West Lawn, PA; and Bruce, husband of Martha, of Hopewell Junction, NY; and step-grandchildren: Don and Siubhan, grandchildren: Kimberly and her husband Paul, Ryan, Rachel and Philip.
Due to the pandemic a memorial service and interment will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Palm Schwenkfelder Church, 833 Gravel Pike, Palm, PA 18070.
