Obituary for Elizabeth T. "Betty" Weikel (Thomas)
Elizabeth T. Weikel, formerly of Pennsburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Frederick Living where she has been residing. She was 99 years old. She was the loving wife of the late Richard F. Weikel, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2007.
Born in Pottstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Barton K. and Florence N. Thomas.
Elizabeth was a wonderful homemaker and was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children and husband. She cared for her family deeply. She was a longtime member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ in East Greenville where she served as a past president of Women’s Fellowship and past president of the Quilters Association. She was also a former president of the Upper Perkiomen School District P.T.A and very active with the Upper Perk Senior Citizens Center.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Christopher L. Weikel and wife Janet, Mary E. wife of Charles D. Krause and Joseph B. Weikel and wife, Snezana; daughters in law Dr. Joanne Villei, Carol Weikel: 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents she is predeceased by two sons, Rev. Richard T. Weikel and William S. Weikel; and siblings, Edmund Thomas and Helen Randall.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at New Goshenhoppen UCC, 1070 Church Rd, East Greenville, PA 18041 with a burial following in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:15 AM. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville, Pa.
