Obituary for Fern E. Freed (Kulp)
Fern E. (Kulp) Freed, of Bally, PA passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Pennsburg Manor in Pennsburg, PA. She was 93 years old. She was the wife of the late Rev. Robert R. Freed, sharing 57 years of marriage together before his passing in 2010.
Born in Pennsburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Newton and Elsie (Gebert) Kulp.
Fern attended West Chester and Lehigh Universities earning a teaching degree. She was a dedicated first grade and kindergarten teacher at public and catholic schools for 50 years before retiring. She taught in PA, CA, NE and KS.
Fern was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Bally, PA and attended the Upper Perk Senior Center where she enjoyed playing cards and the piano. Fern loved playing the piano. The fondest of family memories are around the piano with her.
Surviving are her two children, Denise Stull & husband, Bradley of Hereford, PA and David Freed of Ft. Worth, TX; five granddaughters, Sarah, Jennifer and Rebecca and Taylor and Natalie; five great-grandchildren, Charlie, Susanna, Mikey, Penelope, Samuel, and Jacob; and her twin sister, Fay Kulp of Boyertown, PA.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, 610 Pine St., Bally, PA 19503 with a burial following in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10 to 10:45 AM at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville, PA and memories and condolences may be shared at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.
