Obituary for Frederick C. Hornung

Frederick C. Hornung, 82 of Pennsburg, died peacefully under hospice care on Friday, March 6, 2020. He was born in Philadelphia, the son of the late Dora and Carl Hornung.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Evelyn of nearly 59 years, and their daughter, Deborah Wood, her husband, Matthew and their children, Peter, Julia and Jackson; their daughter, Sandra Beauparlant and her sons, Trevor and Alec; and his brother, Paul Werner Hornung and his wife, Annemarie and their children and grandchildren.

Fred was a master finish carpenter. He enjoyed woodworking from the time he was a young man, apprenticed as a cabinet maker, worked in a cabinet shop for a lumber and millwork company, and went into business with several partners building homes and then later settled into finish carpentry. As he retired, he loved making doll houses, wooden toys and creating Intarsia woodworking pieces. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, nature and going for walks with his wife.

Fred and his wife were active with the Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church and later attended Perkiomenville Mennonite Church.

A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Perkiomenville Mennonite Church, 1836 Gravel Pike, Perkiomenville, PA 18074. A visitation will be held from 2 to 3 PM at the church. Cremation services entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Perkiomenville Mennonite Church.
