Obituary for George J. Uhl

George James Uhl, of Pennsburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 1, 2021. He was 77 years old.

He is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Abbie (Kaufman) Uhl, his brothers, Albert, William and Joseph Uhl, and his sisters, Thelma Johnson and Anna Mae Willing.

George is survived by his loving wife Karen (Krause) Uhl, having shared 53 years of marriage.

He is lovingly remembered by his three children, Dawn Johnson (Edward), Darrin Uhl (Deborah), and Dwayne Uhl (significant other Sheila Huyett).

He was an adored grandfather to Chad Johnson (fiancé Jada Darlington), Corey Johnson (fiancé Leah Day), Megan Johnson, and Joshua, Nathan and Adina Uhl. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Abbie Wright (John) of Perkiomenville.

After honorably serving his country with the U.S. Army in Vietnam, he worked 30 years for the Pillsbury Company and 10 years for Atlas Roofing, before retiring in 2004.

Among his interests, George enjoyed camping, landscaping, finding new ‘treasures’ for his yard, and meeting family at the Shady Maple smorgasbord.

He will always be remembered for his unique sense of humor and the “life lessons” passed down to his children and grandchildren. The house won’t be the same without hearing him sing those old country tunes.

A private graveside service will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pennsburg. Condolences and memories can be shared at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Montgomery County SPCA, 1059 Sweisford Rd, Perkiomenville, PA 18074 or the Vietnam Veterans of America, 8719 Colesville Rd. Suite #100, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
