Obituary for Geraldine W. Rhine (Wambaugh)
Geraldine (Wambaugh) Rhine, 92, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Palm Garden in Seminole, FL. She was born in Altoona, PA to the late David P. Wambaugh and Florence (Alleman) Wambaugh Noe. She was the wife of the late Rev. Lauren D. Rhine, sharing 47 years of marriage before his passing in 1995.
Geraldine was dedicated to serving alongside her husband. She assisted him in his duties as headmaster of the former Columbus Boychoir School, later known as the American Boychoir School (Princeton, NJ). She began her 30-year career as a kindergarten/first grade teacher at the Christian School of Grace Baptist Church (Carlisle, PA) and also taught at Lake City Academy (Lake City, FL), Plumstead Christian School (Plumsteadville, PA) and Salem Christian School (Macungie, PA) as she followed her husband’s ministry. After retirement, she sustained her love of teaching by tutoring privately and substituting at Salem Christian School and the Peace Valley Campus of Plumstead Christian School.
Surviving are five children: Stephen P. (wife-Donna) of Taylor, MI, Jonathan C. (wife-Caite) of Olympia, WA, Timothy M. (wife-June) of Sanford, NC, Rebecca Hayward (husband-Richard) of Seminole, FL, and Riham Halvorsen (husband-Matthew) of Lansdale, PA; and daughter-in-law Rose of Galloway, NJ. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her son L. David Rhine and her brother Rev. David P. Wambaugh.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Salem Bible Church, 8031 Salem Bible Church Rd., Macungie, PA 18062, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 to 10:45 AM at the church prior to the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041.
