Obituary for Janet W. Frutchey (Ziegler)

Janet W. (Ziegler) Frutchey, 85, formerly of Red Hill, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022 at Frederick Living where she has been residing for the past 5 years. She was the loving wife of the late Franklin T. “Frank” Frutchey, with whom she spent 64 years of marriage before his passing in 2020.

Born and raised in East Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Emily E. (Royer) Ziegler.

Janet was a 1954 graduate of East Greenville High School where she played basketball, hockey and softball. She was employed at Upper Perkiomen Earned Income Tax Office for 11 years as a tax clerk before retiring in 1999. Prior to that, she worked at Stauffer Manufacturing and part time at Cinderella Frocks.

She was a member of New Goshenhoppen UCC in East Greenville and was an active member of the Perkiomen Chapter #318 Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron from 1985 to 1986. She was also a member of The Ladies Order of the Owls Nest #1302 and the East Greenville Fire House Ladies Auxiliary. Janet enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to the mountains. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and being involved with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed by her three children, Susan Benson and husband, Stephen of Abington, Thomas Frutchey and wife, MeLisa of Jacksonville, FL, and Judith Kilian and husband, Robert of Sellersville; her nine grandchildren, Drew and wife, Kelly, Brock and wife Cheryl, Devin and wife Allison, Dillon, Tanner, Casey, Ethan, Blaise and Barett; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ferne Garis and husband, C. Edward of East Greenville. She is predeceased by a brother, Richard Ziegler.

The family would like to thank Caring Hospice, her many care givers and the staff at Frederick Living for the wonderful care given to Janet.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 at New Goshenhoppen UCC, 1070 Church Rd, East Greenville, PA 18041 with an Order of the Eastern Star service beginning at 11 AM with the funeral service immediately following. A burial in the church cemetery will follow the funeral service. Family and friends may greet the family from 10-10:45 AM at the church prior to the services.
