Obituary for Jean A. Leister (Buck)

Jean A. (Buck) Leister, 88, of Green Lane, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Pennsburg Manor. She was the widow of Leroy L. Leister, who passed away in 1972.

She was a daughter of the late Howard and Jennie (Bergey) Buck. Jean graduated in 1950 from East Greenville High School and went on to graduate from beauty culture school in Norristown. She owned and operated Jeannes Beauty Shoppe on Main Street in Green Lane for 50 years. She was the hairdresser at Pennsburg Manor and Upper Perkiomen Manor for many years. She was also the local Registrar of Vital Statistics for Commonwealth of PA for 40 years before retiring and was a member of the Order of the Amaranth. Jean was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Green Lane and former member of the womens group. She taught the teenage Sunday School Class at Green Lane Chapel for many years.

Surviving is a daughter, Barbara L. Klees, of Red Hill and a son, Barry L. Leister, of Green Lane. She was preceded in death by a brother, C. Laverne Buck and son-in-law, Robert G. Klees, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, October 11, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3104 Main Street, Green Lane, PA 18054. Calling time will be from 10-11 AM with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Rebecca Schanely. Burial will follow at Friedens Union Cemetery.
