Obituary for Joseph J. Kolonsky Jr.

Joseph J. Kolonsky, Jr., 97, formerly of Shenandoah, PA, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Independence Court of Quakertown, PA.

Born in Shenandoah, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph J. Sr. and Anna (Luscus) Kolonsky.

Joseph was a cook in the United States Army, serving during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. After his honorable discharge, he worked for the B&O Chessie Railroad in Pittsburg, PA for many years. He was also employed by Railway Express.

Joe was a lifetime member of the Defender Hose Fire Company in Turkey Run, Shenandoah, Pa where he proudly dedicated 75 years of service. You could find him bartending or volunteering his time at the firehouse. He was also a Constable for Shenandoah and a member of the Shenandoah AMVETS, American Legion and VFW.

In his spare time, Joe enjoyed spending time with family, painting, doing jigsaw puzzles and reading. He also enjoyed the sun and the beach and walking for miles. He was a Longtime Pittsburg Steelers fan, and in his younger years loved to box.

Surviving are his great nieces and nephews, Gloria Breyer, widow of Ken Kulp, Tammy Gindlesperger, Jody Wink and husband, Bob, Karen Huftalen and Lee Huftalen. Many great-great nieces and nephews; and his beloved great-great-great nephew, Brayden Breyer, who he adored and loved spending time with. He is predeceased by all of his siblings, Leona, Leonard, Thomas, Edward and Theresa Kolonsky; and his two nieces, Nancy Gindlesperger and Gloria Huftalen.
