Obituary for Kenneth Souder

Kenneth Souder, 85, of Perkiomenville, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by love on Sunday, November 26, 2023. He was the loving husband of Gloria H. (Derstine) Souder, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

Born in Green Lane, he was the son of the late Elmer S. and Estella (Zepp) Souder.

Kenneth was an experienced truck driver who got his start hauling butter for Keller’s and all matter of materials but gave over 50 years and countless miles to Landis Leasing/Indian Valley Trucking out of Souderton, before attempting retirement in the early 00’s. Life off the road had him work at Clark Industrial Supply, in Pottstown, for a few years but the call of the road and the itch to drive was too much and he kept on truckin’. Full retirement was finally in the cards about 2015, though even to the end he still longed for ‘one last drive’.

Kenneth enjoyed NASCAR, having attended a number of races in person and tuning in on most Sundays. He also enjoyed watching old style westerns and could watch any number of movies and shows over and over, reveling in the nostalgia and action.

Along with his wife, he will be missed by his children: Deborah and husband William, Wendy and husband Dave, Kenneth Jr, Lori and husband Dean, Lisa and partner Matthew, as well as 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; his stepchildren: Connie, Marc and wife Anna, Tim and partner Jim, as well as 4 step grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by any number of friends and loved ones who he’d known through the years and was proud to call friend.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville.
