Obituary for Leroy E. Stevens

Leroy E. Stevens, 91, formerly of Pennsburg, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Arden Court of Warminster. He was the loving wife of Edith M. (Brey) Stevens, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.

Born in Pennsburg, PA, he was the son of the late William and Margaret (Reiman) Stevens.

He was a graduate of East Greenville High School and worked as a Supervisor at Teleflex in North Wales for over 40 years before retiring. He was an avid Penn State and Philadelphia Phillies fan and enjoyed fishing, traveling, woodworking, crafting, gardening, dog showing and antiquing. Most importantly, he loved his family and his church.

Leroy was a faithful and active member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pennsburg. He served with Victory House Soup Kitchen Ministry, Appalachian Service Project Team, and kitchen and property committees. He also ran many church suppers, rang the bell at funerals, handled the outside signs, provided replacement flags, helped with Lunch Bunch Ministry, helped with the Upper Perkiomen Child Care Center and youth group, and he was also a greeter, usher, reader and a former church council member. His talents with woodworking, allowed him to help build the church pavilion, make hundreds of Creches for confirmands and make the Nativity Creche; he was known for making many things for the people of the congregation and touched everything at St. Paul’s Church. He was kind, loving and giving of himself and his talents to all the staff, children, pastors and members of St. Paul’s. His presence will be missed by all.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Edith, are his two daughters, Sheree Stevens and Shelley Baver and husband, Bruce; four grandchildren, Beth Landis, Brooke Baver, Joy Fenstermaker and Ben Baver; five great-grandchildren, Janae, Grayson, Lucy, Levi and Benny; and siblings, Gloria Hinkle and husband, John and Robert Stevens and wife, Linda. He is predeceased by a grandson, Cory Fenstermaker.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1244 St Paul’s Church Rd, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with a burial following in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:30 AM – to 10:45 AM in the church auditorium. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville, PA.
