Obituary for Lester S. "Popeye" Bailey

Lester S. “Popeye” Bailey, 87, of Zionsville, PA, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021 at his home. He was the husband of the late Barbara A. (Treichler) Bailey, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.

He was born in Lenhartsville to the late Clayton and Grace (Miller) Bailey. Lester served in the Army and worked for many years at Caloric-Topton; Kline Foundry, Alburtis; Hamburg Foundry and High Quality Polish and Painting in Zionsville before retiring.

Lester enjoyed hunting and fishing, the outdoors, going to block shoots and collecting guns. He loved to go fishing with his children and grandchildren. They would also hunt as a family in New York for deer.

He also loved going to auctions, repairing lawnmowers for friends and neighbors as well as speaking PA Dutch with others. Lester loved his sweets and enjoyed making peanut butter eggs and Christmas Cut-Out cookies.

Lester especially loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved their visits and was always prepared to treat them with snacks. Their visits made his day.
