Obituary

Lori A. Catarious, 52, of Pennsburg, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital after complications due to ovarian cancer, which she battled for three years. She was the loving wife of Glenn J. Catarious, sharing 31 years of marriage on September 17th.

Born in Norristown on July 6, 1967, she was the daughter of Jerome “Jerry” and Sandra “Sandy” (Sponenberg) Brown of Red Hill.

Lori was a 1985 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School and earned an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Montgomery County Community College. She used her passion for teaching at the North Penn YMCA as their Kindergarten Enrichment Teacher. She enhanced the lives of many children for 14 years at the YMCA before she had to retire from this position due to her cancer.

In addition to her love for teaching, she enjoyed trips to her “Happy Place” (Ocean City) and loved dogs; especially her Chloe. She also always had a rescue dog in her care. However, above all of this, her undeniable passion was her family. She loved spending time with everyone in her family but recently, she especially loved her time with her new grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by her children: Kiera A. Paris and husband, Stephen of Red Hill; Bradford “Brad” M. Catarious of Harleysville; and Taylour N. Catarious of Pennsburg; her two grandchildren: Jourdyn A. Paris and Caiden J. Catarious-Dennis; and her three brothers: Jerome “Joe” A. Brown, Jr. and wife, Cindy of Schnecksville; Steven S. Brown of Collegeville; and Ryan T. Brown and wife, Amber of Albrightsville.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041. Family and friends are invited to call from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the services. Offer sympathy to the family at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Clearity Foundation (www.clearityfoundation.org), which strives to improve the survival and quality of life of women with ovarian cancer or contributions may be made to a cancer charity that might be close to your heart.
