Obituary for Matthew J. Yanus

Matthew J. Yanus, 38, of Pennsburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 14th, 2022 at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, Michigan. Born in Sellersville, he was raised by Pamela Hank and step-father Troy Hank of Perkiomenville, along with father, Joseph Yanus of Pennsburg.

Matt was a 2002 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School, where he participated in many activities including baseball and football. During his Upper Perk years, he created the foundation of lifelong friendships and memories that will never be forgotten.

In November of 2016, Matt began his current sales position at Highway Materials in Philadelphia. Matt was a dedicated employee of the DePaul Group, leaving a lasting impression both on and off the job site.

An avid sports fan, he loved rooting for the Philadelphia sports teams; especially the Eagles and Phillies. You could find him every Fall, prepping tree stands with his dad, anticipating a successful season of hunting. In addition, some of his favorite spots were a stool at the Firehouse or PC Pub. There you would embrace Matt’s lively spirit, contagious laugh, and witty banter over a cold draft and plate of wings.

Above all, he loved being a dad to his daughter, Collins, and cherished every moment they spent together. He was one of the great ones with a heart of gold and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter Collins, grandmother, Claire and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Patsy and Sterling Schellhamer; uncle, Scott Schellhamer; and paternal grandfather, Chester Yanus.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville on Thursday, September 22nd from 2:00 to 8:00 PM. You may offer online condolences and share memories at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to place memorials may do so through the Matthew J. Yanus Memorial Fund (established to benefit Collins) payable to Pam Hank, 2312 Colflesh Rd., Perkiomenville, PA 18074.
