Obituary for Michael J. Raab

Michael J. Raab, of Perkiomenville, passed away on Monday, August 23 ,2021 at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, PA. He was 80 years old. Mike (or Mickey as he was called by his family) was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy P. (Furlong) Raab, sharing 48 years of marriage together before her passing in 2014.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Michael and Elsie (Krauss) Raab.

He was a graduate of North Catholic High School in Philadelphia, earned his Associates Degree in Metallurgy and served the US Army Reserves, being Honorable Discharged in 1968. He was employed by the State of Pennsylvania as a supervising elevator inspector.

In his younger days, Mike was quite the dancer and showed off his Fred Astaire moves every weekend at local dances. He loved fast cars, trains, Star Wars, Star Trek and had an impressive collection of every edition of Hot Rod Magazine. He was known to all as a gentle, kind family man.

Michael was an involved, longtime member of St. Philip Neri R.C. Church in Pennsburg.

Surviving are his two daughters, Cynthia Dougherty, wife of Jeffrey of Montgomeryville and Stephanie Raab Lempa, wife of Robert of Gilbertsville; his brother, Ronald Raab and wife, Mary of Elkins Park; six grandchildren, Jeffrey, Daniel, Megan, Vincent, Jessica and Taylor; and his beloved cat, Mike.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 3, 2021 at St. Philip Neri R.C. Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg, Pa 18073. A burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
