Obituary for Minnie W. "Sis" Brew (Heywood)

Minnie W. “Sis” Dale Brew, 89, formerly of Spinnerstown, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at her Red Hill home surrounded by her family. She was the widow of the late John J. Dale Sr., with whom she owned and operated Spinnerstown Hotel from 1959 until his death in 1986. She was also the widow of Ronald Brew, sharing fifteen years of marriage until his death in 2006.

She was born November 15, 1930, in Ambler, to the late James T. and Kathryn H. (Garritt) Heywood. She was a 1948 graduate of Ambler High School. Sis was a member of Trinity Great Swamp United Church of Christ, Spinnerstown, PA. She was also a member of Perkiomen Chapter #318 Order of the Eastern Star, The Center at the Open Link and enjoyed lunches with the Red Hatter Ladies of Red Hill.

She is survived by her children: Kathleen, wife of the late Derek Chilton, of East Greenville; John J. Jr., husband of Susan Dale, of Coopersburg; Grandchildren: Anna Kate, Julia Anne and Maggie Kathryn, all of Coopersburg and Step-Daughter, Wendy Brew and her partner, Bob Deul, of Waynesville, NC. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, James T. Heywood.

Services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made “In Memory of Sis” to the Open Link, 452 Penn St., Pennsburg, PA 18073.
