Obituary for Peggy Batzel Kastle

Margaret “Peggy” (O’Neill) Batzel Kastle, 97, of Richlandtown, PA, formerly of the Upper Perkiomen Valley, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Phoebe Richland Health Care Center in Richlandtown, PA. She was the loving wife of the late Frederick Batzel for 32 years and the late Donald Kastle for eight years.

Born in Lansford, PA, she was the daughter of the late John ad Irene (Arner) O’Neill.

Peggy was a graduate of Mount Airy High School. She was a seamstress for Knoll, Inc. in East Greenville, PA for 22 years before retiring in 1985. Prior to her employment at Knoll, Inc. she was employed at Rosenau Brothers Inc. in Red Hill, PA.

She was a member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ in East Greenville, PA and the Upper Perk Lioness Club. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, reading, shopping, doing puzzles, listening to Polka, and most of all spending time with her family.

Surviving are her two children, John Batzel and wife, Judy of Ovilla, TX and Joyce Batzel of Quakertown, PA; a step-son, Kenneth Kastle and wife, Marilyn of Warminster, PA; two grandchildren, Eric Batzel and Criste Schneidt; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer Goudy and husband, John and Susan Hardy and husband, Stephen; three great-grandchildren, Avery, Sienna and Mateo; three step great-grandchildren, Emma, Raegan and Jack; and her two nephews, Thomas and David MacKenzie.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she is predeceased by a son, Gary Batzel; a step-son, Richard Kastle and a sister, Lois McKenzie.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041 with a burial following in New Goshenhoppen UCC Cemetery in East Greenville, PA.
