Obituary for Penny R. Whitcomb (Kline)

Penny R. (Kline) Whitcomb, 67, of East Greenville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife, of Rick Whitcomb, sharing 47 years of marriage together.

Born in Allentown on October 1, 1952 she was the daughter of the late Francis and Esther (Schmoyer) Kline.

Penny was a 1970 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School and worked for Hereford Elementary as a Teachers Aid for six years. She also worked for Mohr’s Store as the deli manager and as a taxi driver.

Penny was also a faithful and active member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ. She was confirmation and Sunday school teacher, served as a deacon on consistory, worked with the youth group and helped with church dinners and festivals. She also was known for making Nativity Figures for each Sunday school class at Christmas. She was also a counselor at Camp Mensh Mill and Camp Fernbrook.

Surviving along with her husband, are her children, Andrew Whitcomb and wife Jodi, Benjamin Whitcomb and wife Khara, and Amy Hangey; three grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary and Paul Whitcomb; and her two sisters, Bonnie Christman and Peg Frank and husband Roger.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at New Goshenhoppen UCC, 1070 Church Rd., East Greenville, PA 18041 with the Rev. Ryan Travis officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the church prior to the services.
