Richard G. “Dick” Gehris, 82, of Sassamansville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at his home. He was the loving husband of Nancy (Beltz) Gehris.

Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late Ernest and Esther (Heydt) Gehris.

After graduation from Boyertown High School, Dick served his country in the United States Navy during Vietnam.

After his honorable discharge, he began a career at Bally Ribbon Mill and retired as a foreman. After his retirement, he kept busy by working at the Spring City Turkey Hill, Bechtelsville Walmart and National Auto.

Dick enjoyed canning and was an excellent cook. He found great joy in sharing meals with family and friends. He loved to garden, travel, especially to the beach, and spend time with his grandchildren. He was also an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan.

Surviving along with his wife, are five children, Jimmy Gehris, Laurie Bilheimer, Scott Gehris, Kim Upchurch and Ashley Bellevou; three step-children, Michelle Winters, Jimmy Campbell and Kim Schott; a sister, Bonnie McCallister; and many grandchildren.

He is predeceased by a sister, Nancy Slonaker.
