Obituary

Richard V. Oxenreider, 89, formerly of Orwigsburg, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at his son’s home in Perkiomenville, with whom he was residing. He was the loving husband of the late Betty Louise (Dietz) Oxenreider, sharing 37 years of marriage before her passing in 2002.

Born in Pennwyn, PA on December 21, 1930, he was the son of the late Ralph and Erma (Steinmetz) Oxenreider.

Richard was a truck driver for 45 years, retiring from Exide Trucking Company. He also owned and operated Oxenreider Toys, Hobbies and More in Hamburg with his son, Bill, for 10 years.

Richard was a member of the Teamsters Local Union 429, the Trailblazer’s four wheeling club, and the Hamburg CB Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, particularly deep see fishing, and hunting.

Surviving are his son, William Oxenreider and wife, Susan; step-son, Earl Grove and wife, Wanda; nine grandchildren and their families; two sisters, Annabell Nunemaker and Alice Bennethum; and a great-nephew, Eric Oxenreider, with whom he had a special bond.

In addition to his wife, he is predeceased by two step-daughters, Mary Roxanna Wagner and Judy Finger; and a brother, Robert Oxenreider.

Due to the unprecedented circumstances presented by the COVID-19, Richard’s service will be private.

On another outing around the same time as the jeep trip could have been the same trip we went on a small hike on a nearby gamelands he struggled to walk so the kids gave him a walking stick later the kids got a custom walking stick made for him with his name on it with a beautiful turkey scene
