Obituary for Ruth M. West (Gunsenhouser)

Ruth M. (Gunsenhouser) West, of Doylestown, passed away peacefully at Wesley Enhanced Living on Monday, April 15, 2024. She was the loving wife of the late Walter West.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Louise Gunsenhouser.

Ruth was a graduate of Frankford High School in Philadelphia and worked various jobs throughout her life. Her most memorable job was working for the Frankfrod Arsenal during WWII. As a female defense worker and a woman in the workforce, she was known as “Rosie the Riveter”.

Surviving is a son, Walter D. West widower of Margaret “Peg”; four grandchildren, Darlene Butlin and husband, Joe, Debbie Webb and husband, Brian, Jay West and wife, Tara and Jessica Frunzi and husband, Nick; nine great-grandchildren, Taylor Marcinek and husband, John, Devon Carlen and husband, Corey, Jake Butlin, TJ West, Bryce Webb, Braylee Webb, Sydney West, Carter Frunzi and Kolbie Frunzi; and three great-great-grandchildren: CJ and Luke Carlen and Hank Marcinek.

She will be laid to rest privately next to her husband at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler.
