Obituary for Therese Ann Ickinger (Schoeler)

Therese Ann (Schoeler) Ickinger, 96, of Pennsburg, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at her home. She was the loving wife of the late Edward J. Ickinger.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Catherine J. (Gleeson) Schoeler.

Therese was a graduate of St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls in Philadelphia, Immaculata College, Villanova School of International Affairs and one of two women to attend Temple’s School of Law at that time.

She was a Truant Officer for Philadelphia and authored many articles which were published in The Remnant and The Wanderer. A confident woman, she was a Catholic activist, public speaker and ran for a congressional seat in 1960 for Delaware County.

She was a member of Saint Mary’s R.C. Church in Schwenksville where she was part of the Patrician Society. She was also a member of the Pope Group in Philadelphia and active in the Pro-Life Movement.

She is survived by her three daughters, Kristen Miller and husband, Robert of Souderton, Catherine Hendrick of Bally and Amelia Ickinger of Pennsburg; five grandchildren, Diana Ottolini and husband, Dante, Justin Miller, Cailin Hendrick and partner, Chris Hamarich, Kathleen Ellis and husband, Joe and Christopher Hendrick; and 13 great-grandchildren, Alexander, Ethan, Violet, Elaina, Dorian, Alastonia “Ally”, Daphne, Thisbe, Atticus, Zelie, Perseus, Blaise and Eowyn. She is predeceased by a sister, Mary Koniers and a brother, John Schoeler.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Saint Mary’s R.C. Church, 40 Spring Mt Rd, Schwenksville, PA 19473. A burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Pennsburg, PA. A viewing will be held from 10:30 – 11:15 AM at the church prior to mass. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Maria Goretti Parish 601 Derstine Rd., Hatfield, Pennsylvania 19440.
