Alma Leister

Alma Leister, formerly of Red Hill, passed away on October 14, 2025, at the age of 100 at Frederick Living where she had been residing. The daughter of the late Wilson and Ada (Zepp) Long, Alma lived a life full of love and dedication to her family.

A 1942 graduate of East Greenville High School, Alma briefly worked at the Red Hill Pants Factory but truly found her passion in being a dedicated homemaker. Her nurturing spirit shone brightly in her role as a mother to her children, Bruce and Diana. She was married for 60 years to Leroy R. Leister until his passing in 2007. Alma treasured her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the center of her life, creating a legacy of love and warmth that will continue to resonate through the generations. Her nurturing spirit and kindness touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Red Hill, Alma was involved with teaching Bible School and participating in the Lunch Bunch. She enjoyed a variety of activities, including sewing, gardening, canning, and engaging in crossword and word search puzzles. Her passion for reading and playing cards provided countless hours of enjoyment shared with family and friends. Alma is survived by her loving children, Bruce Leister (Debbie) and Diana Young (Jim); her beloved grandchildren, Michael Young (Kelli), Michelle Young, Lauren Leister and David Leister (Lindsey); great-granddaughters, Jenna and Ava Young; her sister-in-law, Diane Leister; and several beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her siblings, Margaret Rosenberger, Beatrice Stilwagon and Herbert Long and Wilson “Butch” Long.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1244 St. Paul’s Church Rd., Pennsburg, PA 18073. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 10:45.
