Elizabeth "Betty" M. Hate, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother peacefully passed away on June 30, 2026, at the age of 82. Born May 16, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Kathryn (Detweiler) Godshall.

After completing high school in 1962, Betty became a blueprint operator at Jerrold Electronics. She married Richard "Dick" Hate in 1964 and continued working several years till the birth of their son, Shanen Hate. Betty was a devoted and nurturing mother. She would later return to the workforce as a secretary at Stanley Vidmar (part of Stanley Works) when Shanen began his schooling. She was a "working mom" who never failed to have the delicious dinners on the table every evening.

Betty found great joy and companionship in her marriage to Dick, with whom she would have celebrated 62 wonderful years of marriage in April of this year, if not for his passing earlier in the same month. She enjoyed theorem stencil painting and her creations adorned their home in frames made by Dick. Together, they also shared a passion for antiquing, spending countless hours exploring antique vendor flea markets and attending auctions to collect cherished pieces of history that adorned their home.

Betty is survived by her son: Shanen Hate and wife Nicole and her beloved grandchildren: Gabrielle and Tristan Hate; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband: Dick Hate; and siblings: Jack Godshall and James Godshall. Her family meant the world to her; she treasured every moment spent with those she loved. She was especially proud of the accomplishments of her grandchildren.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the entire staff of Lehigh Valley Hospice for their care and compassion provided to Elizabeth. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Antique Automobile Club of America by visiting www.aaca.org.
