It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John P. Dubas, 80, of Barto, PA, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia, PA, John was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Markewcz) Dubas.

John was a graduate of Olney High School in Philadelphia and met his wife, Helen E. (Remich) Dubas when she was a senior in high school. In 1965, Helen and John eloped to Elkton, MD and married in 1965.

John enlisted in the U.S Army and served two tours and was stationed in South Korea where he mastered taekwon, taught by the Korean World Champion and became a second-degree black belt. After returning home, John served in the National Guard and later became a taekwondo instructor years later.

After his honorable discharge, John embarked on a fulfilling career at the Philadelphia Gas Works, where he progressed from a meter reader to a heavy equipment mechanic. It was during this time that he and Helen had their daughter, Christine and six years later, their son, Andrew.

In 1976, John was born again in Christ. This transformation deepened his faith, guiding him as he continued to study the Bible and lived a life of compassion and kindness, and a committed faith filled marriage of over 60 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children, Christine Dubas-Melcher (Steven) and Andrew Dubas (Tiffany); nine grandchildren, Timothy (Elizabeth), Nicholas (Hannah), Jeremiah, Aaron, Elijah, Alexis, Josiah, Isaiah, and Xavier; nine great-grandchildren, Sharon, Michael, Levi, Evelyn, Abram, Annalise, Judah-Job, Boaz, Hayley and baby to come in May; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two grandchildren, Ashley and Caleb; and his brother, Philip Dubas.
