John R. Young, 83, of Perkiomenville, PA, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering devotion to his family, hard work, and a deep love for the outdoors.
Born in Allentown, PA, John was the cherished son of the late John B. Young and Elaine S. (McElroy)Young. He was the widower of Beverly A. (Landis) Young.
Raised in the village of Hendricks, PA, John was a 1961 graduate of Souderton Area Joint High School and was a fourth-generation retired partner of John R. Young & Co., a family business that continues today.
Outside of work, John was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in hunting and spending time in nature, especially at the land and along the creek. He cherished family trips to Cape May, where countless memories were made together. A loyal Philadelphia sports fan, John faithfully cheered on his hometown teams through every victory and defeat. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing slow pitch softball in the Boyertown area and fast pitch softball in the Souderton area church league, where he was an all-star 3rd baseman. John also loved attending hymn sings, where his appreciation for music and fellowship reflected his enduring faith.
He cherished Camp Rest-a-While, the family's beloved gathering place, where he spent a lifetime helping preserve traditions and creating lasting memories with family and friends through doggie roasts, picnics, celebrations, and countless gatherings that brought generations together.
Above all else, nothing brought a bigger smile to John's face than being surrounded by the love of his children and grandchildren.
He is lovingly remembered by his four devoted children: Lori Rose (the late Lee Rose), Chris Young, Steve Young (Sophia), and Amy Brisar (Chris). He was the incredibly proud grandfather of Kylee (fiancé Ryan), Garrett (fiancée Emily), Brianna, Samantha, Karissa, Brendan, and Ronan. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Bev, John was preceded in death by his precious grandson, Connor. His love, guidance, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A life celebration will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Tabor United Methodist Church, 2209 Hendricks Station Rd, Woxall, PA 18979 with a visitation from 10:30-11:45am with the service starting at 12:00pm. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville.
