Lillian Sweinhart, of Barto, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the age of 98. Born in Barto, PA, Lillian was the daughter of the late Edgar and Lillian (Taglieber) Blankenbiller.
Lillian's life was defined by love and dedication. She graduated from East Greenville High School in 1945 and would soon meet and marry her soulmate, Harvey Sweinhart, 1947. Together, they enjoyed a wonderful 67 years of marriage until his passing in 2014. Their love was filled with joy, laughter, and countless cherished memories, including fond moments spent polka dancing, enjoying breakfast at Shady Maple and tirelessly searching for hidden treasures and the best bargains in thrift shops every Wednesday.
For 25 years, Lillian took pride in her work at Wagner Electric/Tungsol in the Packing Department, where her hard work and commitment were greatly valued for 25 years. Beyond her professional pursuits, Lillian was a beacon of light within her community. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sassmansville, where she served as President of the Women of the Church club, led the Girl Scout troop for 22 years, directed the youth group, and sang in the choir alongside her husband. Her active participation also extended to the Golden Age and Bally Senior groups, where she created lasting friendships.
Lillian found joy in the simple pleasures of life: tending to her vegetable garden, nurturing her beautiful flower beds, and watching birds and other wildlife. As her grandchildren began attending Penn State, she embraced her role as a dedicated Penn State Football fan, cheering them on with enthusiasm.
She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Mae, wife of Walter Beattie and Pamela Mussey; four grandchildren, Shannon, Brock, Micah and Bethany; and six great-grandchildren, Harrison, Danica, Lillian, Evan, Jacob and Alaina. She is predeceased by siblings, Edgar Blankenbiller, Jr. and Cleora Shellaway.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 from 10 to 10:45 AM with a funeral service to follow at 11 AM at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041. Burial will take place in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Sassmansville, PA.
