Louise Ann (Snyder) Swartley, 74, of Exeter Twp. passed away on May 12, 2026 in her home. She was the wife of the late David M. Swartley.
She was born on June 19, 1951 in Reading, PA. She was the daughter of the late Elwood F. "Woody" and Anna L. (Seip) Snyder.
Louise was a graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School and attended Reading Area Community College where she studied Communications and Childhood Development.
Louise began giving swim lessons at the young age of 13. She coached and taught swimming at the Reading YMCA for 20 years, Albright Aquatic Club for 12 years, and Albright Swim program which she oversaw for 4 years. She was also on the coaching staff at Antietam Pool for over 10 years and Amity Pool for 1 year. Louise was awarded the Youth Service Award at the Reading YMCA for her efforts in running age-group programs and served as president of the swim team and national team.
In addition, she volunteered at Exeter Township School District for 20 years; 12 years as a swim coach and 8 years doing secretarial work for the Jacksonwald Music Department. Louise volunteered for the Jacksonwald PTA, filling roles of Secretary and President. Louise spent time as a Cub Scout den mother for Pack 333 Jacksonwald.
In 2005 she was one of the founders/organizers of Concerned Citizens of Exeter Twp., serving 7 years on the executive board as secretary.
As an elected official, she served on Exeter Township Auditor Board for 12 years (2007-2013 & 2014-2020). She was a member of Berks Southeastern Cattlemen Assoc. Louise was also appointed by the Berks County Commissioners to the Berks Agricultural Preservation board from 2019-present.
She taught Sunday School at Fredericksville Mennonite Church and Living Word Mennonite Church for 15 years.
Her hobbies included: swimming, birding, walking, sewing, and being a prayer warrior. Her love for the Lord, family and friends was always foremost.
She is survived by her children: Mark D., husband of Kristin A. (Harner) Swartley and Deanne L., wife of Paul R. Moosman, Jr.; her grandsons: Kole and Reid Swartley; brother Frank J. Snyder, husband of Wendy (Brown). Predeceased by her parents, Elwood "Woody" F. and Anna L. (Seip) Snyder, and sister, Diane L. Roland (Snyder), wife of William.
Her Funeral Service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 325 Covered Bridge Rd, Oley, PA 19547 on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Viewing will be from 9:30-11 AM. Burial will be in St. John's Gernant's Cemetery. Arrangements are by Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville, PA.
