Marie E. Fretz, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully from natural causes on June 17, 2025, at the age of 94 at Souderton Mennonite Home. She was the wife of the late Russell S. Fretz.
Born on January 14, 1931, in Philadelphia to the late Karl and Catherine (Sturm) Einsele, Marie lived a life full of love, service and community.
Her working career included employment at the Green Lane Hosiery Mill and Daut's Factory and concluded in the sample department of American Olean Tile Company in Lansdale before retiring after 36 years.
A dedicated member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Marie actively contributed her time as a receptionist, usher, and assisting with funeral luncheons. Her faith and commitment to her church were a testament to her character and spirit.
Marie was a member of the Green Lane Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and Upper Perk Lioness Club. She enjoyed sharing laughs and good times playing cards at the Senior Center. She found joy in sewing, gardening, and yardwork. She also loved traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
Marie is survived by her son, Russell Fretz and wife Linda; daughters: Debbie Yoder and husband Barry and Wendy Fretz and husband Troy Krause; grandchildren: David Fretz, Kevin Fretz, Bryan Yoder, Bradley Yoder, Corey Krause, as well as step-grandchildren Timothy Nace and P. Scott Nace; sister, Betty Einsele, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by siblings: Minnie Lick, Catherine Fretz, and Karl Einsele Jr. and grandson Michael Fretz.
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Marie's life. A visitation will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church (Sumneytown), 3104 Main St., Green Lane, PA 18054, on June 28, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at St. Mark's Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church at the above address.
