Michael D. Smith, Sr.

Michael D. Smith Sr. , 74, of Quakertown, passed away Thursday October 8th, 2026 in St. Luke's hospital surrounded by loved ones.

He was the loving fiancé of Kimberly Gilles.

He was born in Philadelphia on August 1, 1952 to the late Joseph Smith Sr. and Giovannina (Pizzuto) Smith. He was a brother to Joseph Smith Jr. and the late Roseann Smith and a father to his son Michael D. Smith Jr. and daughter Jennie Digiacomo .

Michael was retired from a pharmaceutical company where he was a dedicated master calibrator for over 20 years. In Michael's free time, he enjoyed weightlifting, WWI history, fishing, boating, metal detecting, watching formula one racing, training German shepherds and spending time with family. His late dogs, Josabelle, Zeus, and Ranger gave him great comfort, pleasure and love.

Michael's family love and loyalty, along with his smile, sense of humor, his never-ending courage and strength will always be remembered and missed.

Along with his loving fiancé Kimberly, his brother Joseph, and his children Michael Jr. and Jennie; Michael is survived by 3 grandchildren, Cannon Smith, Brianna Digiacomo and Tyler Digiacomo.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
