Paul E. Zimmer, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the age of 76. Born in Schenectady, NY, to the late Herbert and Mabel (Conger) Zimmer, Paul lived a life filled with love, dedication, and passion for his family, friends, neighbors and community.
A proud graduate of Bishop Gibbons High School in Schenectady, NY, Paul went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from SUNY-New Paltz in 1970. He embarked on his professional career as a salesman in Rutland, VT, with Burroughs Co., twice earning the prestigious Legion of Honor award. After relocating to Emmaus, PA Paul established himself as owner/operator of Vinyl Services Company, where he showcased his talents in commercial furniture restoration.
For 51 wonderful years, Paul shared a loving partnership with his wife, Renee J. (Gendebien) Zimmer. Together, they raised a beautiful family, which includes their son, William Zimmer and wife, Pamela; daughter, Emily Zimmer and husband, Andrew Hill; and cherished grandchildren, Zackery and Brayden Zimmer and Finn Hill. Paul's love for his family was immeasurable, evident in his enthusiastic involvement as a coach for his children's sports teams and as the PTA president of the former Kings Highway School in Zionsville.
Paul was a man of many passions. He found joy in sailing the Chesapeake Bay, often chartering boats. The serenity of lakes beckoned to him, whether he was camping or enjoying the comforts of RVing, he loved spending time by the water. He was also an avid reader.
As a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Macungie, PA, he found community and spiritual fulfillment. He also served on the church's council including a term as President of Council.
Paul is also survived by his sisters, Mary Markham and husband, Joseph and Susan Pfohl and husband, Kenneth; sister-in-law, Kathleen Zimmer; and many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family. He is predeceased by his twin brother, David Zimmer.
