Ralph "Ralphie" Blakemore was a very special man who lived a life full of love, laughter, adventure, and joy. Born on June 18, 1961, to the late Ralph Sr. and Jean Blakemore, Ralphie was born with Down syndrome, but he never let that define him or limit the wonderful life he would go on to live.
Ralphie had a way of touching the hearts of everyone he met. To know him was to love him. His contagious laughter, fun-loving personality, and ability to make everyone around him smile made him truly unforgettable.
He lived a full and happy life, enjoying traveling, new adventures, and especially trips to Disney, one of his favorite places. Ralphie was also an accomplished Special Olympics athlete, proudly winning thirty-eight Special Olympic medals, primarily in swimming and earning numerous awards in bowling, and track and field.
Ralphie loved music and entertaining others. Whether he was singing, playing his guitar, or simply making someone laugh, he always knew how to brighten a room. He was also a huge fan of WWE wrestling, especially Hulk Hogan! He loved watching wrestling and cheering on his favorite wrestlers. It was just one more thing that brought him so much excitement and happiness.
He also enjoyed the friendships he made through working at BARC Production Services in Quakertown for over forty years. He could complete any job given to him at work quickly and accurately and he built lasting relationships with people who became an important part of his life.
His will be deeply missed by his caregivers that supported him at both his Richlandtown Pike and Hellertown Avenue homes. They will remember Ralphie for his bright smile and funny personality.
Ralphie was well known in the community and would constantly run into people who knew him. All were universally happy to see him and get to catch up. Ralph loved to talk and he loved people and treated his friends like gold.
Family was everything to Ralphie. He was a dedicated son who remembered his parents through photographs, anecdotes, and visits to the cemetery and he lived for his visits to Florida where he would visit his brother, Ted and extended family.
Above all, Ralphie was a Christian who loved the Lord. His faith was an important part of who he was, and his family finds comfort knowing that he is now rejoicing in Heaven, reunited with his beloved mother and father, his sister Doris Snyder, his brother David and lifelong girlfriend Beth Anne Landis.
Ralphie leaves behind his loving brothers, Ted Blakemore (wife Doris) and Robert Blakemore (wife Jackie); his sister-in-law, Peg Blakemore; several nieces and nephews; his dear friends and caregivers, Mike and Stephanie, and his support coordinator for over 20 years, Melissa "Lisa" Rothenberger, all of whom held a special place in his life.
Although our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the wonderful life Ralphie lived and the countless memories he leaves behind. He taught us that happiness can be found in the simplest things, that laughter is meant to be shared, and that love knows no limits.
Heaven gained a beautiful soul, and we can only imagine the laughter and music filling the air as Ralphie is welcomed home. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
