Robert C. Hansell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather went home to be with his Lord on May 2, 2025, at the age of 91. Born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania to the late Norris Hansell, III and Ruth (Cunningham) Hansell, Bob lived a life characterized by his profound faith, unwavering love for family, and a quick wit that brought joy to those around him. Bob was wise beyond his years and was always there to help in time of need.
Married to his loving wife, Meryl B. (Gander), for 53 wonderful years, Bob cherished his family deeply. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his eight children: Gwendolyn Hendry (Christopher), Jennifer Knox (Richard), Lief Hansell, Valerie Swartz, Noah Hansell (Midori), Joy Anna Sands (David), Matthew Hansell (Allyson) and Meghan Carr (Timothy); 14 grandchildren: Emma, Sophia, John, Benjamin, Amanda, Kyle, Sedona, Nikito, Abigail, Christian, Lily, Elliot, Sarah and Liam; and three great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by a daughter, Glory Hansell and siblings, Norris Hansell, IV and Jane Butera.
A graduate of Haverford High School in 1951, Bob went on to achieve a bachelor's degree in Economics from Ursinus College in 1955. His career spanned many successful years as a technical writer with prominent companies such as Honeywell, Quad Systems, and Wyeth Labs. In the last decade of his working life, he served as a contract engineer with his final position at Synthes in West Chester. Bob also studied at the Evangelical School of Theology in Myerstown, Pennsylvania.
A man of many passions, Bob had a deep interest in holistic medicine, dedicating over 50 years to researching alternative therapies not only for himself but also for family and friends. His love of music was profound, playing four instruments: tuba, trumpet, French and baritone horns along with singing in local church choirs throughout his life. He was also known as a handyman; he had a remarkable knack for fixing things and, in his early years, even built a telephone and a mini electric car. Bob also was an avid reader and found joy in the simple pleasures of life-enjoying bike rides, and cherishing the beauty of nature, particularly flowers, trees, and birds.
