Robert C. Swenk, of Green Lane, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at the age of 92. He was the son of the late Charles and Esther (Gracely) Swenk. He was married to the late Nancy (Bender) Swenk with whom he spent many years of marriage before her passing in 2017.
After graduating from East Greenville High School in 1951, where he proudly earned accolades as a three-letter athlete in baseball, basketball, and football, he pursued a bachelor's degree in business administration at Gettysburg College. At Gettysburg, he not only excelled academically but also demonstrated his leadership as vice president of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and as a dedicated member of the varsity baseball team for three years. Following his graduation, Robert served his country honorably, commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army Reserves.
For 35 years, Robert was employed as a stone mason at Nester Brothers. After retirement, he embraced his love for the outdoors by working at Macoby Run Golf Course, where he spent 18 years cutting grass. A passionate golfer, Robert enjoyed many years in the Macoby Run league and cherished trips to Myrtle Beach. His interests extended beyond golf; he was an active bowler with the East Greenville Fire House and the American Legion and appreciated the tranquility of fishing and hunting trips to Canada and Bradford County. Family vacations to Ship Bottom and spirited excursions to Notre Dame football games brought him great joy, and he was proud to be a devoted fan.
He was a member of New Goshenhoppen UCC Church, East Greenville.
Robert was a simple man, grounded in love for his family and friends. He cherished every moment spent with those he loved. He is survived by his beloved children: Claudia Swenk, Robin Hilton (John), Todd Swenk (Amanda Jo), Jon Swenk (Melissa), Jana Ellixson (Donald), and Michael Swenk (companion, Jen Bonetz); grandchildren, Mike, Matt, Pat, Michaela, Asia, Macauley, Dylan, Tristan, Benjamin, Charlie and Piper; and great-grandchildren, Rhett, Peyton, John Michael, Kennedy, Carter and Rhodes. He is also predeceased by a son, Barton Swenk; his first wife, Marilyn (Freed) Swenk; and his siblings, Nancy Nyce and Dale Swenk.
A visitation will be held from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM with a funeral service to follow at 1 PM on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041. Burial will take place in New Goshenhoppen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Goshenhoppen UCC Church, East Greenville.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and aides of Family Caregivers and Suncrest Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided to Robert.
