Obituary for Barbara J. Benhardt (Schneider)

Barbara J.  Benhardt (Schneider)
Barbara J. (Schneider) Benhardt, 79, wife of Henry “Hank” Benhardt, of Gilbertsville, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Season’s Hospice in Phoenixville Hospital.

Born in St. Louis, MO, she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Ann (Settle) Schneider.

She was 1953 class graduate of Laboure High School, St. Louis, MO.

Barbara worked for over 7 years as an Assistance Coordinator for Pearl S. Buck Foundation in Bucks Co. She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Pennsburg, PA and the Senior Center, Boyertown, PA. Barbara loved puzzles, art, especially painting and swimming at the YMCA, Pottstown. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Green Castle, PA. She was a baseball fan and enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 59 years, are children, Michael Benhardt and wife, Lina, Perkasie, PA; Linda, wife of Robert Vavra, Quakertown, PA; John Benhardt and wife, Donna, Red Hill, PA; brother, Arnold Schneider and wife, Diane. St. Louis, MO; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by a sister, Dolores Wright.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. There will be a viewing from 6 pm until 7:30 pm, Friday at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA and 10 am until 11 am, Saturday at the church. Burial follows in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg, PA. Offer sympathy to the family at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.
