Obituary for Charles S. Krauss

Charles S.  Krauss
Charles S. Krauss, 86, of Palm, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Valley Manor in Coopersburg. He was the husband of Betty E. (Reiss) Krauss recently celebrating 66 years of marriage on November 25, 2014.

Born in Corning, PA, he was a son of the late Howard S. and Carrie S. (Schoup) Krauss.

He worked as a carpenter and floor installer for The Furniture Shop in Pennsburg for over twenty years before retiring in 1990. Prior to that, he first worked as a young man for Walnut Lane Dairy Farm in Palm, and Pfrommer Trucking Company in Green Lane. He then worked for both Charlie Roberts and Henry Lachman Construction Companies.

Charles was a lifelong member of Palm Schwenkfelder Church where he served on the Board of Trustees, and was the originator of the “Over the Hill Gang” of the church. He was also active as a volunteer at Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center expansion project.

Surviving along with his wife are two daughters, Diane L., wife of Thomas E. Dunn of Zionsville and Nancy J., wife of Peter Menio, Jr. of Athens, PA; a brother, Robert S. Krauss of Palm; two grandchildren, Peter Menio, III of Sayre and Meredith, wife of Alexander Hays of Gaithersburg, MD and a great grandson, Peter Menio, IV.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Palm Schwenkfelder Church, 833 Gravel Pike, Palm, PA 18070. Burial follows in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Arrangements are by Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville.
