Linwood C. "Digger"  Bauman
Linwood C. “Digger” Bauman, 92, widow of Grace M. (Simon), of Pennsburg, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at St. Luke’s Hospice.

Born in Pennsburg, he was a son of the late Edward J. and Katie (Bauer) Bauman.

Linwood served in the United States Navy during World War II as Seaman 1st. class in the Pacific Theatre.

He was a self- employed plumber for many years before retiring in 1984.

Linwood was a 1941 graduate of Pennsburg High School, where he was a member of the football team. He also played for a semi pro league from 1945-1949, winning the championship in 1949. He also played baseball in the former Twilight League.

Surviving are two children, Barbara A. Boyer and companion Perry Nester, of East Greenville, Susan L. Gilbert and companion Rick Wall, of Hatfield; four grandchildren, Grant Boyer, and wife, Jennifer, Adam Boyer and wife, Michelle, Jerry Gilbert and wife, Meredith and Joel Gilbert and wife, Gabrielle; six great-grandchildren, Erika and Madelyn Boyer, Toriana, Elizabeth, Ryan and Jake Gilbert. Two sisters; Dorothy Bauman, of Florida and Beatrice Dzurenda, of Harleysville. Along with his wife and parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Russell, Leonard and Pat Bauman, and two sisters, Ella Romeo and Betty Carl, and grandson Corey Boyer.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA, with Rev. Wayne Shelor officiating. Family and friends may call from 10 until 11:00 am Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery 1244 St. Paul’s Road, Pennsburg.
