Obituary for Edna I. Steckhouse (Schaeffer)
Edna I. (Schaeffer) Steckhouse, 84, widow of George A. Steckhouse, of Frederick, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.
Born in Hellertown PA, she was a daughter, of the late Stephen and Lena (Mindler) Schaeffer.
Edna worked at Bally Ribbon Mills as a Weaver for almost 30 years before retiring.
She loved working outside and will be remembered for her meticulous attention to her yard-work including many hours of riding a tractor to cut acres of grass.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Pennsburg.
She will be sadly missed by her three children, Constance, wife of Allan Rothermel of Pennsburg; Deborah, wife of Peter Goldman of Boulder, Co; and George A. Steckhouse, Jr., husband of Lisa of Pennsburg; siblings, Evelyn, wife of John Micholochik of Hellertown; Floyd Schaeffer of Freemansburg; and Nancy, wife of Barry Miller; three grandchildren, Brandon Rothermel, Lisa Rothermel Wells, and Christopher Steckhouse and a great-granddaughter, Lillian Wells. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by three brothers, Harold, Edward and Keith Schaeffer.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Friday April 29, 2016 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 22 Washington Street, East Greenville with Rev. Paul Bartlett and Rev. William A. Fluck officiating.
