John R. Spofford, 73, husband of Sara I. (Groover) Swars Spofford, of Perkiomenville, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem.
Born in Worcester, MA, he was a son of the late Warren R. and Murial A. (Blackwood) Spofford.
He was veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked as an Electrical Engineer for Motorola in Horsham for 21 years retiring in 2010.
He was an amateur Ham Radio Operator and member of Amateur Radio Relay League, the NRA and enjoyed competitive sport shooting. He loved animals, especially his beloved Golden Retriever, Hank and kitten, Skye.
Surviving along with his wife are two daughters, Deborah D. Churchill and husband, Mark of Lexington, SC and Kimberly A. DesRosiers of Manchester, NH; three stepsons, Gregory J. Swars, Sr. and wife, Patricia of Dublin, NJ, Christopher J. Swars, Sr. and wife, Cessalee of Forsyth, GA and William S. Swars and wife, Holly of Marietta, GA; a brother, Thomas Spofford of Keene, NH; a sister, Sandra Kennedy of Kennebunk, ME; 12 grandchildren; a niece and many nephews.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041. Burial will be in New Hampshire State Veteran’s Cemetery, Boscawen, Merrimack County, New Hampshire. Offer sympathy to the family at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.
