Obituary for Helen M. Burke (Schurr)
Helen M. (Schurr) Burke, 71, wife of John S. Burke, of East Greenville, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 in her home. She and her husband celebrated 49 years of marriage on September 9, 2016.
Born in Philadelphia, PA; she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Meehan) Schurr.
She was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and enjoyed family gatherings, reading, word search puzzles and especially traveling to Canada with her husband.
Helen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister and will be sadly missed by her husband; her two children, John S. Burke, Jr. and wife, Lee Ann of Gilbertsville and Kelly Ann, wife of Lance Afflerbach of Palm; two brothers, George Schurr and wife, Sue of Wernersville and Peter Schurr of Gilbertsville; a sister, JoAnne Schurr of Philadelphia and three grandchildren, Chelsea Burke and Damon and Brea Afflerbach.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with the Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg. There will be a viewing from 10 until 11 am, Wednesday at the church.
