Obituary for William Edward Cody

William Edward Cody, 89, widower of Patricia K. (McMahon) Cody, of Kingswood Vale, Perkiomenville died Saturday in St. Luke’s Quakertown Hospital.

He worked at Bechtel Corporation in Limerick for several years before retiring. Prior to that he worked in the purchasing department at Knoll Inc. for 29 years in New York and then East Greenville. He also had worked at Dunn and Bradstreet and William Brand and Company, both in New York City.

He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres on the USS Tuscaloosa and the USS Alaska during World War II earning a Good Conduct Medal.

He was a 1954 graduate of St. John’s University with a B.A. in English.

He was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and Charter Member and Past Grand Knight of the Father Leo J. Letterhouse Council #6614.

Surviving are five children, Patricia K., wife of William J. Coughlin of Perkiomenville, Maureen E., wife of Paul E. Moser, Jr. of East Greenville, William D. Cody and wife, Jacqueline of East Greenville, Timothy T. Cody and wife, Elizabeth of Pottstown and Michael A. Cody and wife, Kate of Hilton Head, SC; 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg with the Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the church prior to the funeral mass.
