Myrtle Annie Gronert, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2012. The widow of Charles F. Gronert, she was formerly a long-time resident of Green Lane and resided in Salt Lake City, Utah since 1998.

Myrtle was born in East Greenville to the late Fred and Emma (Freed) Bieler. She was third in a close-knit family of nine children. She graduated from East Greenville High School and was proud of her awards and the records she held as a high school track star. She married Charles, her high school sweetheart, when he returned from WWII. They were married for over 52 years, and they traveled the U.S. and Europe together.

Myrtle was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Ashton, her only grandchild, was the apple of her eye. In the last 25 years, her favorite role was that of “Gram.” She and her grandson were blessed to have so much memorable time together.

She had two goals in her late 80s – to see her grandson graduate from college and to reach the age of 90. She accomplished both.

Myrtle was a devoted sister and friend. People were drawn to her because of her fun-loving spirit, which brought great laughter and joy. She enjoyed being the life of the party – from her adventurous early adult years to entertaining friends with her singing and dancing at the assisted living center where she lived.

She was a 50 year member of Perkiomen Chapter #318 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sumneytown and New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, East Greenville.

Myrtle is survived by two children, Curtis Gronert and wife, Linda, of Ocean City, NJ and Lori Teske Hudson and husband, Phil, of Salt Lake City, Utah; a grandson, Ashton Teske of Brooklyn, NY; two sisters, Frances Jarman of Evans, GA and Naomi Kutsch of Salisbury, MD and two brothers, Willard Bieler and his wife, Bonnie, of Salisbury, MD and Charles Bieler and his wife, Judy, of San Diego, CA. She was predeceased by three brothers, Russell, Frederick and T. Robert Bieler and a sister, Arlene Shiffert.
