I was sad to read of Myrtle’s death, and even though I didn’t know her personally, she was obviously someone who was loved and will be missed. At times of loss we all need to be comforted. Something that has helped me deal with the loss of a loved one is expressed in the Bible book of Romans, chapter 15, verse 4: “For all the things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction, that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope” The “comfort from the Scriptures” include the promise of resurrection. This can be found in Jesus words, recorded at John 5:28,29 where it says: “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out…” What a wonderful time it will be when we can be reunited with our loved ones, like Myrtle, when they answer the Lord’s call.
