I wanted to give Mrs. Freed, Denise and David my sympathies. Growing up in Fort Scott and going to school with Denise and David, I remember Father Freed primarily as a nice man and father of friends. In Wichita a few years later I was the manager of a nursing unit at St. Francis Regional Medical Center and lo and behold Father Freed came into my life again. The unit had many patients with cancer and we also had patients with AIDS. At that time, AIDS was pretty frightening to most people. The disease was fairly new and there were still unknowns and much fear from the general public. Some of our AIDS patients had even been outcast from their families. I will never forget how kind, gentle and supportive Father Freed was to all of our patients. He made a difference in their lives and mine as well. To the Freed family -- my thoughts and prayers are with you. Barbara Morrison Beugelsdyk
